Leigh Weber
Director
After obtaining trade qualifications in January 2001, Leigh worked as a shop-fitter and joiner around Australia and in Europe.
In Germany, he gained work experience creating scale models and sketches of projects which he went on to build.
In London, he teamed up with Clubland’s visionary Director of the Match Group, Jonathon Downey, acclaimed for setting style styles standards for the London Bar and cocktail scene. Along with John Mangham
of Mango Architecture and Design, they created Milk and Honey – a multi-award winning member’s lounge in Soho. The trio went on to successfully renovate a number of other London bars. Leigh also worked with corporate hospitality company Soul Shakers, creating bar setups for events such as the Notting Hill Carnival.
In France, the trio created the clubhouse – a stunning Art Deco Mansion complete with bar and restaurant for the ski slope enthusiasts and locals. Next, in Chamonix, Leigh met George Lives, a company offering high-end winter and summer travel packages around Europe in chalets and mansions. Leigh meticulously refurbished George’s chalet during the day and worked in the Clubhouse bar at night.
Returning to London, Leigh worked with D2 Design to create an exciting new 3-storey bar in Oxford called the Thirst Lodge which became the latest hotspot in Oxford. With D2 Design, Leigh built the Theme Magazine stage at the Earls Court Bar Exhibition and created an English-themed outdoor beach party for Beefeater Gin in their London Factory.
Later projects included the Maya Bar on Dean Street, London – a draw card for many celebrities – and the East Room, again with Jonathon Downey and Mango Architects.
Since returning to Australia in 2008, Leigh has attained a Certification and Builder’s license (no 1194641) and has completed 3 Autocad Courses.
